Buret Stand:

Left: Buret stand when empty.

Right: Burt stand when buerts have been properly placed in the buret holder

The buret stand is used to secure burets during a procedure which requires their use. The must be secure when the valve at the bottom of the buret is being opened and closed. This frees hands to use the valve, while the other hand can swirl a flask beneath the buret as necessary for instance in a titration, to effect mixing.

The central screw in the middle secures it to the post. The clamps on either side are compressed to open, and the burets placed inside. Releasing the opposing clamps allows them to close and secure the burets in the position shown on the left.

This type of clamp is sometimes referred to as a "butterfly" clamp.
